My work is primarily directed at assisting overseas' legal arrangements and my charges reflect the international recognised guarantee of veracity and authenticity conferred by my role as a public office and my seal of office.
I need to see your documents so that I can fully understand what you require before I give you a final price for the service.
Additional signatories and additional requirements will affect the fee, so the final fee will be calculated according to your requirements. I will ask you to send me your documents for me to respond with a quote.
I will advise you of my proposed fee before I begin work.
If we have a meeting where we decide that you do not need a notary after all or can not proceed because the information in your document is incomplete, my fee for that meeting will be limited to £100 (no VAT arises).
If your job requires additional activity and assistance to what I set out in my quote, I will discuss that with you with a view to asking you for what I hope you will agree is a fair increase in my fee to reflect the additional work that was required on your behalf.
I can arrange an apostille and consular legalisation for you.
If you require an apostille for your notarised document, the minimum additional cost is £79.25. This includes an agency fee that ensures a next-working day service and UK postal charges (guaranteed, 1 p.m. next day delivery to and from the apostille office). The result is that your document will be on its way back to you or to its destination within three days from when we meet.
If you wish me to arrange an apostille for more than one document, the cost per document is less because of the postage.
For onward delivery overseas, courier charges will need to be quoted. These are a minimum of £50. If I am asked to pay a courier surcharge over and above what I have quoted to you, I will ask you to pay me the difference. Surcharges are increasing common and are not known until your destination address is input to the courier system. Usually, the courier service relied on is DHL International Express service. Where a surcharge is imposed, it may be possible to use "Team Global" to help keep the cost down.
If you require legalisation of a document without notarisation, I will add an arrangement fee of £25 to the cost of the apostille.
Consular legalisation can be extremely expensive and will be quoted on a case by case basis.
I can take statutory declarations for use in the UK. My fee for a UK statutory declaration is £95 for one document to include the statutory fee of £5 and a notarial arrangement and administration fee of £90. Please note that other providers may be limited by legislation to charge a lower amount of £5, according to the capacity in which they act.
Many clients use me for a UK Statutory Declaration because it can be very hard to find a solicitor to do this for £5 (and a solicitor will not offer an out of hours/weekend appointment (and certainly not for £5!)).
Declarations of any description for use outside the UK will be charged according to my usual fee rates.
I am able to travel to meet you to perform my notarial service. My standard travel rate to include all costs and expenses is charged at an hourly rate of £200 per hour. I will estimate travel time using an online mapping service and agree the charge with you in advance.
I can notarise all documents for all jurisdictions.
The key to notarising a document is to follow any written instructions that you have received from your recipient or overseas' lawyers you have instructed. One of my first requests after you contact me will be that you send me those instructions, if you have them.
Documents destined for Australia are often accompanied by rules set out by APRHRA. I am familiar with those rules and will ensure that your document complies with them so as to avoid rejection upon receipt by APRHA.
If a witness separate to the notary is needed, then, yes, please bring your witness. Your witness should bring proof of ID and a recent proof of address.
Please bring your proof of ID and a recent proof of address. Please bring all valid passports that you hold and any other photo ID you have such as a driving licence or national ID card. Please also bring recent proof of address. This can be a bank statement or utility bill issued within the last three months. An online statement or bill is sufficient. A council tax bill for the current year may be relied upon.
Most appointments will be completed within 45 minutes, according to your requirements.
I am happy to print documents in colour of up to ten pages within my fee. If you have much more than that to be printed, I will ask that you make a contribution, in addition to my fee, to my costs of printing.
I am consistently thanked for offering people a really good service and I will do my utmost to ensure that you feel you have an excellent service and are pleased with the experience. In particular, I will work through your paperwork to make sure that all documents that need to be submitted to your recipient are present and correct. I will make sure we are all clear on what documents need to be notarised. I will not notarise things that do not require that and so I will save you unnecessary cost and expense. If your documents are not complete, I will help you complete them and get them right.
Yes. My office is at my home. I will be very flexible in terms of offering you an appointment on a day and at a time that is convenient for you but I will always ask that you phone me first to agree the time of your visit so that I can be sure I have the time available to see you and deal with your requirements.
